After reading the Edmonton Journal article, I almost threw up in my mouth a little bit - Teamsters Local 362 Crossing Boilermakers 146's picket line. This ought to be a core value of all unionized members, especially after a plea from another Union not to do so. The Teamsters had a chance to possibly play an integral role in solving a long standing issue that the Boilermakers brothers and sisters haven't been able to resolve for the last two years - that they haven't been able to deal with a difficult employer. Perhaps if the Teamsters membership had refused to move the oversized load, it may have put pressure on Cessco to deal with this long standing problem. Although the bigger fight is with the employer, the Teamsters Local 362 left fellow brothers and sisters on the battlefield and drove away. I have personally reached out to the current leadership. They indicated that I was "barking up the wrong tree" and refused comment. The leadership also refused comment to the Edmonton Journal. Their position is 100% indefensible.
